SYNOPSIS: Islah Abdur-Rahman, a popular British-Bangladeshi actor and filmmaker, created a short film called "Go Back To Your Country", a fictional yet powerful response to the 2024 Southport riots in the UK. "Hated By Default" explores how such a film came into existence, highlighting the deep relationship Islah has always unwillingly shared with Islamophobia, and the constant battle between creativity and injustice that he feels compelled to fight.
